Sony and Dr. Luke are stinking to their story that Kesha is free to record with other producers, according to their statement released yesterday.
“Sony has made it possible for Kesha to record without any connection, involvement or interaction with Luke whatsoever, but Sony is not in a position to terminate the contractual relationship between Luke and Kesha.”
However, as it’s been pointed out before: Even if Kesha is free to work with other producers, Dr. Luke is a big name in the business that no matter what, he’ll be around Kesha. And all she wants out of this is to get away from her abuser.
Even though Sony claims they cannot terminate a contract that was signed by Kesha and Dr. Luke, they are still failing her. Having to work alongside an abuser is scary and dangerous. Is Kesha’s safety less important than Dr. Luke’s contract?
In the courts eyes, and in Sony’s eyes: Yes, her safety is less important.
